Man charged after aggravated break and enter in South Coogee

A man will appear in court today charged over an aggravated break and enter, during which a man was injured, in Sydney’s east, NSW Police say.

About 12.35pm yesterday (Sunday 9 December 2018), police have been told that a man allegedly attempted to force entry into a unit on Malabar Street, South Coogee, threatening the male resident with a knife.

A 31-year-old man sustained a laceration to his elbow during the altercation. The man then fled on foot.

The resident was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require hospitalisation.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, a 36-year-old man was arrested later that day at a house on Botany Road, Botany and taken to Mascot Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – actual bodily harm.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Monday 10 December 2018).

It is believed the two men are known to each other.
