A man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted a paramedic in an ambulance in Sydney's east yesterday.
About 3.50pm (Friday 27 June 2025), police were called to the intersection of Bunnerong Road and Daunt Avenue, Matraville, following reports of a concern for welfare.
Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command called for assistance from NSW Ambulance to treat an intoxicated 66-year-old man at the scene.
The man was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.
While the man was in the ambulance, he allegedly threatened a 24-year-old female paramedic before he began to punch her in the torso and arms.
Police immediately attended and assisted paramedics taking the man to hospital under police guard.
The 24-year-old paramedic did not require treatment.
Following inquiries, the man was released from hospital and taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with assault frontline health worker no actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 28 June 2025).
