Man charged after attempted robbery with violence in Lutwyche, QLD

Two men were threatened, with one of them being assaulted, after a man allegedly carrying a metal bar ran into a Lutwyche unit this afternoon and demanded cash and property, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged that around 12.30pm a man wearing a balaclava entered a Lutwyche Road unit and threatened a 55-year-old man.

A 21-year-old man who was at the unit came to the man’s aid and the offender fled on foot and empty handed.

Both men ran after the man, catching up to him in the underground carpark area. The older man was allegedly struck on the arm with the metal bar before both men tackled the offender to the ground and detained him until the arrival of police.

A 27-year-old Stafford man has been denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (September 14) charged with eight offences including attempted robbery whilst armed and using actual violence, enter dwelling with intent whilst armed, assault occasioning bodily harm, face disguised with intent to commit an indicatable offence and unlawful possession of a vehicle.

The 55-year-old Lutwyche man sustained a laceration to a gash to his arm.
