Man charged after barricade incident, NSW

A man will face court today after he was arrested following a barricade incident in Sydney’s south west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 8.20am (12 November 2018), police were called to a domestic-related incident at home on Green Valley Road, Green Valley.

On arrival, officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command found a 48-year-old man, allegedly armed with an axe and a hammer, had locked himself in a shed in the backyard of the home.

A 69-year-old woman located inside the home was uninjured.

A perimeter was established, and about 8:45am, following negotiations, the man was arrested without incident.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for assessment before being taken to Liverpool Police Station.

He was charged with armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, intimidate police officer in execution of duty, and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 13 November 2018).
