Man charged after choking, spitting at officers in Blacktown

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting three police officers at Blacktown yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before 3.30pm yesterday, an officer attached to the Police Transport Command attempted to stop a man at Blacktown Railway Station.

The man allegedly pushed the male constable to the ground before placing him in a headlock and choking him, causing the officer to begin to lose consciousness.

A member of the public intervened and released the man’s grip from the officer.

Further police attended, however, the man allegedly continued to resist them before spitting blood and saliva in the faces of two officers.

The 26-year-old man was apprehended and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with assault police causing actual bodily harm; assault police (two counts); and resist arrest.

The Lethbridge Park man was bail refused to appear at Blacktown Local Court today.

Three officers were taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment.
