A man has been charged following an investigation into an incident in Cooks Hill last week.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Darby Street, Cooks Hill, about 3.20am on Wednesday 10 December 2025, following reports of an assault.
At the scene, police were told a 53-year-old man had allegedly been assaulted by another man who had entered the unit.
The resident was treated at the scene; however, was unable to be revived.
A crime scene was established, and Newcastle City detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Aztec, assisted by State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
Following a post-mortem examination, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Seven Hills about 8.20am yesterday (Wednesday 17 December 2025).
A 24-year-old man was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent, and use etc offensive weapon in company with intent indictable offence.
He was refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 17 December 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 11 February 2025.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing under Strike Force Aztec.
