Man charged after counterfeit currency investigation in Tregear

A man has been charged following investigations into the alleged distribution of counterfeit currency in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm on Thursday (10 August 2017), police executed a search warrant at a house on Rymill Road, Tregear, following reports a man had been distributing counterfeit money.

It will be alleged during the search officer’s located counterfeit notes, equipment including computers, printers, stationary, and a quantity of ammunition. All items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

Officers attached to St Marys Local Area Command arrested a 45-year-old man. He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with make counterfeit money, possess counterfeiting materials, possess counterfeit money and possess ammunition without holding a license/permit.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 30 August 2017.
