Major Drug Squad detectives have charged a man as part of an investigation into alleged drug trafficking.
As part of their investigation, detectives identified a premises in Box Hill, in which they will allege drugs were being manufactured.
Detectives from the Major Drug Squad and Clandestine Laboratory Squad acted swiftly to disrupt this activity and ensure any risks to the public were addressed immediately.
Investigators executed search warrants at the premises on Whitehorse Road and an address on Botanic Place in Wantirna South on 10 April.
Large quantities of drugs of dependence and proceeds of crime were allegedly seized from an active Clandestine Laboratory in Box Hill, including:
• Approximately 5.5 kilograms of methylamphetamine
• Approximately 120kgs of 1,4 Butanediol
• Further methylamphetamine in various stages of production
• Equipment and chemicals used to manufacture drugs
Detectives seized the following in Wantirna South:
• Large Commercial Quantities of Methylamphetamine
• Commercial Quantities of Heroin
• A large quantity of cash
• A small amount of illicit tobacco and vapes
• Commercial cash counter machine
• Two vehicles - a Volvo and a Mercedes
A further three warrants were executed on 11 April in Box Hill North and Glen Waverley, with detectives locating ecstasy, methylamphetamine, illicit tobacco and hydraulic presses with moulds used to prepare drugs for sale.
A 40-year-old Wantirna South man was arrested and has since been charged with:
• Traffick large commercial quantity of drug of dependence - Methamphetamine
• Traffick large commercial quantity of drug of dependence - 1,4 Butanediol
• Traffick commercial quantity of drug of dependence - Heroin
• Possess equipment re traffick (Manufacture) drug of dependence
• Possess proceeds of crime
He was remanded and will next appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 14 August, 2025.
