Man charged after fatal crash north of Glen Innes, NSW

A man will face court today following investigations into a fatal crash near Glen Innes, NSW Police say.

Just after 5am on Friday (2 September 2016), a 37-year-old man was driving a Ford Falcon station wagon along the New England Highway, about 36km north of Glen Innes, with a 76-year-old female front passenger.

Police believe the vehicle left the road on a left-hand bend and hit a tree.

Emergency services were called and the woman was assisted by Ambulance Paramedics; however, she died at the scene.

The driver was taken to Glen Innes Hospital to be treated for a head injury and mandatory testing.

today, the 37-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, and negligent driving occasioning death.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court tomorrow.
