Man charged after fire deliberately lit near Penrith, NSW

A man has been charged after allegedly deliberately lighting a fire near Penrith today, NSW Police say.

About 12pm (Monday 8 January 2018), police will allege a man deliberately set fire to a large pile of leaves in Barnes Road, Llandilo.

A total fire ban has been issued for today as temperatures exceeded 40 degrees in Sydney’s west.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with failing to comply with the direction of the minister.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Penrith Local Court on Tuesday 6 February 2018.
