A man has been charged after a business was allegedly deliberately set alight in Wagga Wagga early yesterday morning.
About 3.45am (Thursday 27 August 2026), emergency services were called to a business on Baylis Street, following reports of a fire.
Officers attached to Riverina Police District attended, alongside Fire and Rescue NSW crews who extinguished the blaze.
Nearby residents were evacuated; however, there were no reports of injuries.
The business was destroyed.
Police established a crime scene and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze commenced.
About 4:40pm yesterday, detectives arrested a 42-year-old man at Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with dishonestly for gain damage property by fire/explosive.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 today (Friday 28 August 2026).
