Man charged after hospital incident in Wyong

Police have arrested a man who allegedly held two staff members at knifepoint at a Central Coast hospital yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5.15pm yesterday, a man attended Wyong Public Hospital seeking treatment.

The man allegedly held and threatened a female staff member with a meat cleaver.

Another staff member went to assist and he was also held and threatened.

Emergency services were called, and an officer attached to Traffic & Highway Patrol Command attended and disarmed the man.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

He was charged with take and detain for advantage x2, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence x2 and other offences relating to domestic violence.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today.
