Man Charged After Lavington Station Worker Injured

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening and injuring a service station worker in the states south this morning.

Shortly after 7am (Sunday 15 March 2026), emergency services responded to a service station on Wagga Road, Lavington, after reports of a man armed with knives threatening staff.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District responded and were told a man entered the service station and argued with a staff member behind the counter, before allegedly throwing food items on the floor.

When the staff member approached, the man allegedly armed himself with two knives and proceeded to assault and chase the worker outside the store.

After some time the man left the location.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the employee- a 30-year-old man – for hand injuries before he was taken to hospital for further treatment.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident commenced.

A short time later, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on McDonald Road, at Lavington.

He was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, steal motor vehicle, destroy or damage property, enter enclosed land without lawful excuse, goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen and common assault.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Court Division 5 on Monday 16 March 2026.
