Man charged after pedestrian dies, NSW

Police have charged a man after a pedestrian died on the Central Coast overnight, NSW Police say.

Just after midnight (Sunday 8 July 2018), emergency services were called to Wilfred Barrett Drive, near Mini Street, at The Entrance North, following reports a car had struck two pedestrians.

A man, believed to be aged in his 20s, died at the scene. He has not been formally identified.

Another man, aged 46, was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver, a 44-year-old man, was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.

He has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, cause bodily harm by misconduct, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving.

His driver licence was suspended and confiscated and he was granted bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Monday 13 August 2018.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
