Man charged after pedestrian hit in Earlwood

A man will appear in court after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Earlwood last year, NSW Police say.

About 5.45am on Friday 19 August 2016, a garbage truck was travelling on Homer Street when the truck turned onto Bayview Avenue.

At the same time, a woman walked onto a pedestrian crossing, when the truck hit the woman.

Officers from Metropolitan Crash Investigation attended.

The woman sustained major injuries to her right leg and as a result her leg was amputated.

On Sunday 29 January 2017, the man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. His license was also suspended.

He will appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 14 March 2017.
