Man charged after police officers assaulted in Maroubra

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting three officers during an incident at Maroubra yesterda, NSW Police sayy

About 3.30pm (Thursday 20 December 2018), police were at Anzac Parade, near Maroubra Road, for an unrelated matter, when a man approached them alleging he had been assaulted earlier.

Whilst officers tried to assist the man, it’s alleged he was aggressive, yelling and swearing.

As the officers were leaving the area, the man continued to yell and swear.

The man ran across the road towards police and during a further conversation, he approached a male constable and allegedly pushed him in the chest.

The three officers attempted to restrain the man and following a short struggle, he was arrested.

A female leading senior constable suffered a wrist injury and two male constables suffered minor grazes

The three officers were taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment, and have since been released

The 38-year-old man was taken to Maroubra Police Station and whilst in custody is alleged to have assaulted a male senior constable.

He was charged with two counts of resist officer in execution of duty, three counts of assault officer in execution of duty, and assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 30 January 2019.
