Man charged after road rage incident in Belmore

A man has been charged following an investigation into a road rage incident in Sydney's south west in November.

About 6.40pm on Tuesday 6 November 2018, a 50-year-old man, was driving west along Canterbury Road at Belmore in a grey Jeep Wrangler, with a 25-year-old male passenger.

Whilst stopped at the intersection of Chapel Street, two men got out of a white car and approached the Jeep.

The passenger was punched through the open window, before he got out and was involved in a scuffle with the two men.

The driver got out and intervened before the two men returned to the white car and fled.

During the scuffle, the passenger suffered multiple stab wounds and was driven to Canterbury Hospital.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command were notified and attended the hospital to speak with both men.

The injured passenger was transferred to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment while the driver was treated at Canterbury Hospital for facial injuries.

Following inquires, yesterday (Tuesday 8 December 2018) detectives from Campsie Police Area Command arrested a man at a home in Charlescotte Avenue, Punchbowl.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and was charged with malicious wounding.

The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 9 January 2019).
