Man Charged After Serious Crash in Budgewoi

A man will face court today charged following a serious two-vehicle crash on the Central Coast last month.

About 6.45pm on Friday 18 April 2025, emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on Budgewoi Road, Budgewoi.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the driver, a man aged 53, and two passengers – a 47-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman – at the scene.

The driver was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The female passenger was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

The male passenger was taken by road to the John Hunter Hospital with minor injuries.

The other driver, a 64-year-old woman, was taken by road to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene and inquiries commenced by police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The male driver was discharged from hospital yesterday (Thursday 1 May 2025) where he was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station.

There he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).

He was refused bail to appear before Hornsby Local Court today (Friday 2 May 2025).
