Man charged after shooting in Leura

A man has been charged after shots were fired into a business in Leura this morning, NSW Police say.

Police from Blue Mountains Local Area Command were patrolling Leura about 1.40am today, when they were told shots had been fired into a shop.

A 32-year-old man was arrested near the scene and taken to Katoomba Police Station.

He was charged with fire firearm at other than dwelling disregarding safety; not keep firearm safely (x2); possessing ammunition without holding licence; use unregistered firearm (x2); not police officer wearing a police uniform; not keeping firearm safely; possessing loaded firearm in public place; possessing unregistered prohibited firearm; and fire firearm into building.

The man was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court tomorrow.
