Man charged after stabbing in Newtown

A man will appear in court today after being charged with stabbing another man, at Newtown yesterday.

About 4pm yesterday (Friday 18 January 2019), several residents at a unit complex in Camden Street became involved in a verbal dispute.

A short time later a 49-year-old man entered one of the units, and allegedly stabbed the occupant, a 30-year-old man in the chest.

Emergency services were contacted with officers from Inner West Police Area Command attending and establishing a crime scene.

The injured man was treated at the scene and conveyed to RPA Hospital in a stable condition.

Police located and arrested the 49-year-old man who was taken to Newtown Police Station.

He was later charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 19 January 2019).
