A man will face court after alleged domestic violence assault and pursuit in Sydney's west.
Police were called to Acacia Terrace, Bidwill, just after 3am yesterday (Friday 3 May 2025), following reports of an alleged domestic violence-related assault.
Officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command were told a 28-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a 28-year-old man known to her before the man drove from the scene in her car.
The woman was treated by NSW ambulance paramedics at the scene.
About 4.30am on the same day, officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command were at the intersection of Great Western Highway and Parkes Street, Katoomba, when they attempted to stop the vehicle.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through Great Western Highway, Lithgow, where officers attached to Chifley Police District successfully deployed road spikes near Glanmire.
A short time later, officer located the vehicle abandoned on Sydney Road, Kelso.
The vehicle was seized for further examination.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident commenced.
Following inquiries, about 9am today (Saturday 3 May 2025), officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command arrested the 28-year-old man at a hotel on Good Street, Granville. When searched police allege the man was in possession of a knife.
He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), destroy or damage property (DV), driver conveyance taken without consent of owner, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45km/h, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, and not stop vehicle when directed to do so.
He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 4 May 2025).
