Man charged after throwing firecracker on stage during Shannon Noll concert in South West Rocks

A man has been arrested after he allegedly threw a firecracker on stage at a Shannon Noll concert on the state’s Mid North Coast last month, NSW Police say.

About 10.30pm (28 July 2017), the band was playing at a licensed club on Sportsman Way, South West Rocks, when a lit firecracker was thrown onto the stage.

On noticing the firecracker, a band member attempted to extinguish the wick with his foot; however, the ‘bunger’ exploded, burning a hole in his shoe.

He sustained superficial burns to his foot and was treated at the scene before being taken to Kempsey District Hospital for further treatment.

Investigations by police at Mid North Coast Local Area Command have led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man at Port Macquarie Police Station about 1.15pm today.

He was charged with affray and negligently handle explosive to cause a person injury.

He was given bail and is scheduled to appear in Kempsey Local Court on 25 September 2017.
