Man charged and tools discovered in Richmond

Police have charged a man and uncovered a treasure trove of allegedly stolen tools in Richmond yesterday (14 September), Victoria Police say.

Detectives from Yarra Vehicle Crime Reduction Team arrested the 35-year-old Richmond man and executed a search warrant in Cooke Court, Richmond as part of an ongoing investigation into a number of thefts from motor vehicles and burglaries in the area.

Investigators uncovered in excess of 250 allegedly stolen power tools, two motorcycles and a trailer.

An allegedly stolen BMW sedan was also recovered as part of the operation.

Detectives have identified the victims for a large portion of the stolen goods and continue to work to reunite them with their rightful owners.

The Richmond man has so far been charged in relation to 20 separate incidents.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 15 September.
