Man charged; drugs and cash seized at Lightning Ridge

Investigators have charged a man following an investigation into drug supply in the state's Central North.

Officers from Central North Police District's Target Action Group have been conducting ongoing inquiries into the supply of prohibited drugs in the Lightning Ridge area.

As part of their inquiries, officers executed a search warrant on Woolaroo Road, Lightning Ridge, about 6.45am yesterday (Wednesday 18 March 2020).

During the search, officers located methylamphetamine, cannabis leaf, cash, bank cards, mobile phones and drug paraphernalia.

These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

A 50-year-old Lightning Ridge man was issued a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) for two counts of possess prohibited drug.

He is due to appear at Lightning Ridge Local Court on Wednesday 25 March 2020.

Investigations are ongoing.

Central North Police District, Superintendent Andrew Hurst, encouraged those who may have information on the supply of prohibited drugs in the Lightning Ridge area to come forward.

"We want to get prohibited drugs off our streets and will continue to target those who supply these poisons in our community," Supt Hurst said.

"To assist us in doing this, we need the public's help. If you have information that can help with our investigations, we would like to speak with you. Your information will be treated in strict confidence."
