Man charged, firearm, weapons and drugs seized in Sutherland

A man has been charged with alleged firearm, weapon and drug offences at Sutherland yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 3.30pm today, a 52-year-old man was at a cemetery on Linden Parade, when he was allegedly seen with a firearm.

Officers from Sutherland Local Area Command were notified and before attending they were told the man was seen leaving in a black Honda sedan.

Police stopped a black Honda Sedan at the intersection of Grand Parade and Linden Parade and spoke to the 52-year-old driver, before searching him and the vehicle.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized a shotgun, five knives, a meat cleaver, box cutter tool, rope, tape, cannabis and methamphetamine.

The man was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with six offences, including:

- Possess prohibited drug (x2);

- Possess unregistered firearm in public place;

- Possess unregistered firearm (x2); and,

- Custody of knife in public place.

He was refused bail to face Sutherland Local Court today tomorrow.
