Police have charged a man following an incident in Woolooware yesterday, NSW Police say.
About 4.45pm today, police were called to a home on Flinders Road following reports that a man had forced his way into the home and was damaging property.
On arrival officers found the rear glass sliding door to the premises had been smashed, the glass spraying into the home and injuring an 8-year-old boy. A 44-year-old female occupant was still inside the premises and spoke with police.
Shortly after 5pm today officers located a vehicle on Endeavour Road, Taren Point and arrested the 48-year-old male driver.
A search of the man’s vehicle allegedly located a bag containing house breaking implements, a balaclava, three knives, a crow bar and a pair of bolt cutters.
It’s also alleged he had an expandable baton in his pocket.
He was taken to Miranda Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent, possess housebreaking implements, possess or use a prohibited weapon without a permit and have custody of an offensive implement in a public place.
He was refused bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.
The boy sustained a small laceration to his nose and glass fragments in his eyes that required medical treatment.
The female occupant was not injured.
