Investigators were told the victim was asleep in her home near Bell Railway Station when she was woken by a loud noise on Monday 17 October about 11.25pm.

The victim looked outside and saw her car fully ablaze in the driveway.

Emergency services were called to the property and the blaze was extinguished.

The victim’s car was completely destroyed and extensive damage was caused to her fence and gate.

A 19-year-old Thomastown man was charged with two counts of criminal damage by fire and bailed to appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates Court on 14 February 2017.
