Man charged following child approaches in South West Metropolitan Area

A man will face court over alleged possession of child abuse material and intimidation-related offences in Sydney’s south west, NSW Police say.

On the afternoon of Friday 30 November 2018, a man and a 12-year-old girl attended Auburn Police Station and reported two child approach incidents at a train station in Homebush West, one occurring earlier the same day, and another in September 2018 – the exact date is unknown.

Following inquiries by officers attached to North West Sector Transport Action Group, an 18-year-old man was arrested at a home on Arthur Street, Strathfield, before being taken to Auburn Police Station.

Police will allege that during the arrest, a mobile phone was seized which was found to contain child abuse material.

The man has been charged with 2 x stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal), and possess child abuse material.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on 20 December 2018.
