Man charged following incident at hospital, NSW

A man has been charged following an incident at a hospital in Tweed Heads yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 9pm (Tuesday 30 October 2018), police were called to a hospital on Powell Street, following reports a man was verbally abusing staff.

The man was detained by security after allegedly producing a replica firearm.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District attended and arrested the 37-year-old man.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of stalk/intimate intend fear physical harm, and custody of knife in public place.

The man was refused bail and will appear before Tweed Heads Local Court today (Wednesday 31 October 2018).

No one was injured during the incident.
