Man charged following robbery in Newcastle

Police have charged a man following an alleged robbery in the Hunter Region earlier this month, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm (3 April 2016), a man entered a convenience store on Wharf Road, Newcastle. The man allegedly threatened a 23-year-old male worker and demanded money.

A sum of cash was handed to the man and he left the store, running north towards Hunter Street.

Following investigations, police attached to Newcastle Local Area Command arrested a 52-year-old man last week (15 April 2016) at Woolgoolga.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

The man was bailed refused to attend Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 15 June 2016.
