A man will face court charged with more than 30 alleged property offences in the State's north.
In January 2026, officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District commenced an investigation into a number of reports of break and enters at commercial addresses in Port Macquarie.
As part of inquiries, about 8.45pm on Monday 2 March 2026, police located and seized a Toyota Hiace van parked on King Creek Road, near Wauchope.
About 6.35am on Tuesday 3 March 2026, police located the van alight in the carpark of Port Macquarie Police Station.
Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the van, which was being stored at the station, was destroyed.
No damage to police vehicles or buildings was reported.
Three officers were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation.
About 11.20am on Tuesday 3 March 2026, police arrested a 38-year-old man on Hollingworth Street, Port Macquarie.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with:
- Three counts of break and enter house steal value less than or equal to $60,000
- Three counts of use class A vehicle displaying misleading etc number plate
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Dishonestly obtain property by deception, and
- Larceny.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Port Macquarie Local Court on Tuesday 10 March 2026.
Following further inquiries, yesterday (Saturday 25 April 2026), police attended Mid North Coast Correctional Centre and charged the man with:
- 14 counts of receive property theft serious equal indictable offence less than or equal to $5000
- Six counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal less than or equal to $60000
- Eight counts of break and enter house steal value less than or equal to $60,000
- Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without law
- Destroy or damage property
- Larceny value less than or equal to $2000
- Damage property by fire or explosion more than $ 5000 and less than or equal to $15000.
The man was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 29 April 2026.
