Man Charged for Break-ins in Chifley District

A man will face court today charged with multiple break-ins at properties in the central west.

About 8.50am yesterday (Thursday 29 May 2025), emergency services were called to a property on Canowindra Road, Canowindra, following reports of a man armed with an axe trespassing.

Upon police arrival, members from the RFS had detained the man after he had threatened them with an axe.

Police were told multiple properties and business' were allegedly broken into in Cowra and Canowindra between 12.55am and 8.50am yesterday (Thursday 29 May 2025), with fences rammed, tools and equipment stolen.

A 49-year-old man was arrested and taken to Cowra Police Station.

He was charged with break and enter house steal value over $60,000, larceny value under $2000, enter dwelling with intent (steal), break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence, and armed with intent commit indictable offence.

The man was refused bail to appear at Cowra Local Court today (Friday 30 May 2025).
