Man charged for cocktail bar smash and grab, SA

A teenager identified as one of the two males who broke into a Peel Street cocktail bar earlier this week has been arrested, according to SA Police.

The break-in occurred at the CBD licenced premises just after 12am, Tuesday 22 August, and was reported to police a few hours later when the damage was discovered by the owners. CCTV vision allegedly shows two people break-into the cocktail bar through a basement door.

Numerous bottles of alcohol and an amount of cash were stolen and damage caused to the inside of the licenced premises by spray paint.
Two men were then seen to exit the bar and walk away down Hindley Street before leaving the area in a taxi.

Just after 9.20pm, Thursday 25 August, police from Hindley Street spoke to a group of youths. One of the group, a 17-year-old boy was identified as being a suspect and subsequently arrested by Detectives conducted a search of the teens Kilburn home allegedly uncovering numerous empty bottles of alcohol that police suspect were stolen during the break in.

The teen was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft, he was refused bail and will appear in court today.
