Man Charged for Driving at Couple in Southern Sydney

A man has been charged after allegedly deliberately driving at a couple in southern Sydney this morning.

Police were called to West Botany and Spring Streets, Arncliffe, about 8.20am today (Sunday 20 April 2025), after reports of predatory driving.

A couple told police they were walking their dog on the verge when they heard a car loudly revving behind them.

When the vehicle narrowly missed them, there was an argument between the male driver and the man.

The couple then entered Riverine Park, when the driver allegedly drove into the park and at the couple several times, who were forced to take evasive action to avoid being hit.

The 50-year-old driver exited the vehicle and was arrested by an officer attached to St George Police Area Command.

The man was taken to St George Hospital before being taken to Kogarah Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of negligent driving, two counts of stalk/intimidate, armed with intent, menacing driving, and destroy property.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Monday 21 April 2025).

The couple were unharmed; however, their dog, a Staffie, was treated for a minor injury sustained during the incident.
