Man Charged for Erratic Driving in Victoria's North-East

Mitchell Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after he allegedly fled from police in a stolen car in the Goulburn Valley area yesterday.

It is alleged the Volkswagen Tiguan was driving erratically along the Hume Freeway in Euroa just before 11am.

It will be alleged the vehicle was stolen from an address in Werribee on 28 May.

The police Air Wing observed the vehicle travelling on the Northern Highway in Bylands where it allegedly lost control and crashed into a barrier.

The driver was arrested and taken to hospital under police guard.

He has since been interviewed and charged with several offences, including:

reckless conduct endangering serious injury

dangerous driving whilst being pursued by police

fail to stop on police direction (x3)

drive manner dangerous

unlicensed driving (x3)

theft (x2)

criminal damage

unlawful assault

theft of motor vehicle

fail to answer bail

commit indictable offence whilst on bail (x3)

The 32-year-old Werribee man was remanded to appear before Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court today.
