Man Charged for Impersonating Foreign Officer

A man will face court after allegedly impersonating a foreign police officer and possessing firearms in Sydney's Inner West last week.

About 2.50pm on Friday 18 July 2025, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling on Everton Road, Strathfield, when they saw a black sedan which was sign-written with Chinese Police insignia.

Police spoke with a 20-year-old man, who allegedly showed them ID documents and a disability pass.

Officers searched the vehicle, seizing ammunition; two firearms were subsequently seized from a home in Baulkham Hills.

The man was taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with use display emergency services organisation insignia, drive motor vehicle with unlawful police insignia, use false document to influence exercise of public duty, holder of Category A or B licence not have approved storage (two counts), provide information known to be false or misleading, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, and not comply P2 licence condition not display P plates.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 22 July 2025).

His firearms licence was suspended.
