Man charged for pursuit and outstanding warrants in Sutherland

Police have arrested and charged a man, wanted on outstanding warrants, following a short pursuit in Sydney’s south last week, NSW Police say.

About 3.30pm (Friday 5 October 2018), police approached a vehicle exiting at a petrol station at Old Princes Highway, Sutherland, and signalled it to stop.

Police identified the 28-year-old driver and asked the man to exit the vehicle, when he drove off.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command followed the vehicle from the service station and attempted to stop it.

A pursuit was initiated and terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

The man attended Sutherland police station yesterday (Tuesday 9 October 2018), where he was arrested.

He was charged with police pursuit (Skyes Law), drive recklessly/manner dangerous, disqualified driver, use vehicle with misleading number plate and refuse to comply with direction.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Wednesday 10 October 2018).
