Man Charged for Setting Moorebank Factory Ablaze

A man will face court charged after allegedly deliberately setting a factory on fire in Sydney's southwest last year.

About 3.45am on Wednesday 29 October 2025, emergency services were called to an industrial lot on Heathcote Road, Moorebank, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and found the front of the factory well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW officers worked to extinguish the blaze, with the adjoining lots affected.

There were no reports of injuries..

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced into the circumstances of the suspicious fire.

On Tuesday 4 November 2025, investigators attended a home on Frampton Street, Lidcombe, and executed a search warrant.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized a phone and other items believed to be linked to the fire.

Following extensive inquiries, yesterday (Tuesday 24 February 2026), detectives reattended the Lidcombe home and arrested a 20-year-old man, before he was taken to Auburn Police Station.

The man was charged with destroy etc property in company use fire etc greater than $5000 and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court, where he was formally refused to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 5 March 2026.
