A man has been charged after allegedly lighting an ATM on fire in Rockdale last week.
Shortly after 4pm on Saturday 14 March 2026, emergency services were called to a bank on the Princes Highway, Rockdale, following reports of a fire.
Police have been told a man allegedly set the ATM on fire with a lighter.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire. The ATM was inoperable due to the damage sustained by the fire.
The man left the scene prior to the arrival of police.
About 3pm yesterday (Thursday 16 March 2026), officers from St George Police Area Command attended a bank on the Princes Highway, Rockdale, following reports the same man was at the location.
A 42-year-old man was arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire.
He was bail refused to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Friday 20 March 2026).
