Man Charged in Antisemitic Graffiti, Car Fires Probe

A man has been charged over alleged antisemitic graffiti and vehicles being damaged in Sydney's east earlier this year.

About 3.45am on Friday 17 January 2025, officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were called to Military Road, Dover Heights, following reports of antisemitic graffiti sprayed on two vehicles, paint splashed onto two houses and a car along with three vehicles being set alight.

It will be alleged that two of the vehicles damaged by graffiti also sustained fire damage before spreading to a third unrelated vehicle. A fourth vehicle was also damaged by a large amount of paint.

A crime scene was established, and investigations commenced under Strike Force Pearl.

Following extensive inquiries police arrested a 25-year-old man at a home on West Street, Umina Beach, at 6:30am yesterday (Monday 5 May 2025).

He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and destroy etc property in company use fire etc value greater than $5000.

He was refused bail to appear at Gosford Local Court later that day (Monday 5 May 2025) where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 29 May 2025.

Police will allege that the man was not present at the time of the offence but had assisted in planning the incident.

Two men have already been charged over the same matter and are currently before the courts.

Investigations under Strike Force Pearl are continuing.
