Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man for his alleged involvement in the detaining and assault of three men in Sydney's south west last year.
About 7pm on Thursday 10 April 2025, emergency services were called to Canterbury Road, Bankstown, following reports of an armed robbery.
Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended and approached a man outside an industrial complex.
The 37-year-old man failed to follow police direction and a taser was discharged.
He was assisted by officers before he was taken to hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics in a serious condition. He has since made a full recovery.
A 32-year-old man was located injured in a nearby restaurant and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Three others were taken from the industrial complex to Bankstown Police Station for questioning and later released.
During a search of a storage unit, police discovered approximately 50 pallets of vapes and illegal tobacco inside.
A crime scene was established by local police before the matter was referred to State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Carina.
Since April 2025, Strike Force Carina detectives have established that six armed men arrived at the complex in a white rental van.
Inside the unit, the group allegedly detained and assaulted three men, until one escaped and called emergency services.
Strike force detectives have since arrested four people - the alleged driver and three kidnappers - who remain before the courts.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.15am today (Tuesday 17 February 2026) strike force detectives - with assistance from the Raptor Squad - executed a search warrant at a home in Padstow.
A 46-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with three counts of take in company with intent get advantage occasion actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Tuesday 17 February 2026).
