A man has been charged with child abuse offences following an investigation under Operation Savete.
Earlier this month, Operation Savete, led by officers from North West Public Transport Command, was established to investigate reports of teenage girls – aged between 12 years old and 15 years old – allegedly being filmed in public places without their consent.
Following inquiries, at 7am yesterday (Thursday 21 August 2025) officers from North West Public Transport Command, assisted by North West Metropolitan Operational Support Group, executed a search warrant at an address in Strathfield.
During the search warrant police allegedly seized clothing, mobile phones, electronic storage devices and two modified video cameras concealed within the laces of a pair of shoes.
A 49-year-old man was arrested at the address.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with four counts of aggravated film person's private parts without consent and one count of possess child abuse material.
He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Friday 22 August 2025).
