A man has been charged following a critical incident investigation at Singleton, NSW Police say.
An investigation is underway after an alleged stolen semi-trailer crashed and caught fire in George Street, injuring eight people, just before 9am yesterday (13 September 2017).
The driver of the alleged stolen truck, a 29-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and after hospital treatment for minor injuries and mandatory blood and urine testing, was taken to Singleton Police Station.
The man was charged with steal motor vehicle, police pursuit – not stop (Skye’s Law x 2), use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention (x 2), assault officer in execution of duty (x2), resist officer, and malicious damage (x2).
He was refused bail to appear at Singleton Local Court tomorrow.
A critical incident team from Port Stephens Local Area Command is now investigating all circumstances surrounding the incident.
That investigation will be subject to independent review.
