Man Charged in Dubbo Break-In Spree

A man will face court today after allegedly committing several break and enters and other property offences throughout the state, including in the Orana region.

Police commenced an investigation into a string of property offences including break and enters and vehicle thefts that allegedly took place between Tuesday 4 November 2025 through to yesterday (Monday 12 January 2026), in Zetland, Chippendale, Haymarket, Surry Hills, and Dubbo.

Among the incidents, offences allegedly occurring in Dubbo included an unknown man attempting to break into at a residence through a rear window flyscreen on Quinn Street, Dubbo, on Friday 9 January 2026.

On Sunday 11 January 2026, an unknown man allegedly attempted but failed to gain entry into another residence in Barracks Close, Dubbo.

About 12.30pm on Monday 12 January 2026, an unknown man allegedly broke into a residence on Sterling Street, Dubbo, stealing jewellery and credit cards. The credit cards were allegedly later used by the man to access funds.

Later the same day, an unknown man allegedly broke into a business on Wingewarra Street, Dubbo, stealing the keys to an employee's personal vehicle before driving off in the car.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District arrested a 37-year-old man at a residence on Edwin Street, Dubbo. The allegedly stolen vehicle was located nearby, along with several allegedly stolen items.

The man was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Three counts of break and enter house steal value less than or equal to $60,000,
  • Two counts of break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent (steal),
  • Three counts of larceny,
  • Destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000,
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner,
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period – second offence, and
  • Dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 today (Tuesday 13 January 2026).
