A man has been charged with alleged domestic violence sex and assault offences following an investigation in Sydney's south-west.
In March 2025, detectives attached to Burwood Police Area Command commenced Strike Force Brandum to investigate alleged domestic violence sexual assault, choking, and kidnapping offences committed against a 35-year-old woman by a 44-year-old man between 2021-2023.
As their investigation continued, police were told a 52-year-old woman had met the man via a dating app before he allegedly choked her in March 2024.
Following extensive inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Sibbick Street, Russell Lea, about 7am yesterday (Wednesday 2 July 2025), where they arrested a 44-year-old man.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with 15 domestic violence-related offences,
- Intentionally choke person without consent (three counts)
- Intentionally record intimate image without consent
- Stalking/intimidation (two counts)
- Sexual intercourse without consent (eight counts)
- Take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 3 July 2025).
