A man will face court following alleged thefts from parked vehicles in Sydney's inner city yesterday.
About 6.45am yesterday (Saturday 12 September 2026), police were called to George Street, Eastlakes following reports several items were stolen from a parked vehicle.
Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command were told between 1am and 5am the same day, items including a laptop, a mobile phone, cash and a handbag were stolen.
Inquiries have led police to allege further items were stolen from three more vehicles on the same street.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
Following inquiries, about 2pm the same day, police arrested a 31-year-old man at a home on Maloney Street, Eastlakes.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station pending further inquiries.
About 4.30pm the same day, police executed a search warrant at the same location and located multiple items which police allege was stolen from George Street earlier the same day.
The man was subsequently charged with larceny value more than $2000 and less than or equal to $5000, destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000, larceny value less than or equal to $2000 (two counts), goods suspected stolen in/on premises (five counts), and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 7 today (Sunday 13 September 2026).
