Man Charged in Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash Near Wagga

A man will face court charged after a man died following a three-vehicle crash, near Wagga Wagga yesterday.

About 11:55am on Friday 1 August 2025, emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway, near Lower Tarcutta Road, Tarcutta, about 50km north-east of Wagga Wagga, following reports of a crash between two trucks and a SUV.

NSW Ambulance responded and found the male driver of the SUV – a 70-year-old man – trapped. He died at the scene.

The two male drivers of the trucks, 25 and 31, were taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Riverina Traffic Highway Patrol Command responded and established a crime scene. An investigation commenced, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.

About 7.45pm the 25-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – driver manner dangerous and cause injury harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle.

He was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 2 August 2025).
