Man Charged in Pendle Hill Armed Robbery Attempt

A man has been charged following an alleged attempted armed robbery in Sydney's west.

About 12:15am today (Monday 5 May 2025), police were called to a service station on Wentworth Avenue, Pendle Hill following reports of an attempted armed hold-up.

On arrival, officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command were told a man had threatened an employee with a knife and demanded cash.

The 20-year-old employee then retreated to a back room and remotely locked all doors of the shop.

The 24-year-old was unable to leave before police arrived to find him inside.

No injuries were reported.

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced.

The 24-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station where subsequent checks revealed he was wanted on virtue of an outstanding warrant.

He was charged with armed with intent commit indictable offence, demand property with menaces with intent to steal, destroy or damage property greater than$ 2000 & less than $ 5000, and shoplifting value less than $2000.

Three warrants were executed for alleged domestic violence and drug offences.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 5 May 2025).
