Man charged in relation to home invasion in Campsie

Police have charged a man in relation to a home invasion in Sydney’s south-west last month, NSW Police say.

Just after 3.30am on Sunday 3 July 2016, emergency services were called to a home on Eighth Avenue, Campsie, following reports of a home invasion.

Police were told a man was allegedly tied up, assaulted and robbed by two men.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 51-year-old man at the home for a cut to his leg and facial injuries. An eight-year-old boy who was home at the time was uninjured.

Police will allege a number of credit cards stolen during the robbery were later used fraudulently.

Detectives from Campsie Local Area Command have been investigating the incident under Strike Force Jason and today executed a search warrant at a home in Bexley.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter, and obtaining financial advantage/causing financial disadvantage.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow.

Inquiries into a second man are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
