A man will face court over multiple break and enters and theft of a truck in the state's west last month.
In July 2025, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District and Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT) established Strike Force Leonora to investigate rural related crime in Dubbo, Narromine and Warren areas.
About 12.30am on Tuesday 1 July 2025, an Isuzu light rigid truck carrying power and concreting tools, was allegedly stolen from a construction site on Bunglegumbie Road, Dubbo.
About 8.30am on the same day, emergency services were called to Chapmans Road, Dubbo, following reports of a truck on fire in bushland.
Police attended the scene and located the Isuzu truck well alight.
NSW Rural Fire Service attended and extinguished the fire however, the truck was destroyed.
Police established multiple crime scenes and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Police will allege the vehicle was used in break and enter offences at two businesses in the Narromine area the same morning.
Following inquiries, about 9.45am today (Thursday 14 August 2025), strike force detectives arrested a 22-year-old man on Maple Crescent, Narromine.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with steal motor vehicle (two counts), damage property by fire/explosion more than or equal to $15000 (two counts), break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000 (two counts), destroy or damage property, and enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 4 tomorrow (Friday 15 August 2025).
